We understand sustainability holistically by looking at it from three key perspectives:
Our commitment to sustainability is supported by a certified management system.
Our guiding principle is: “As little as possible, as much as necessary.”
We prefer raw materials and packaging from the circular economy in order to protect the environment. At the same time, we are working consistently to completely replace peat in our products. With innovative solutions such as organic and phosphate-reduced fertilizers, developed in close cooperation with universities and research institutes, we actively contribute to the preservation of the biological cycle and the return of natural substances to the ecosystem.
Our raw materials are the basis for our high-quality products. We attach great importance to the origin and properties of our raw materials and continuously evaluate new raw materials in order to minimize the impact on future generations and supply chains.
In our production facilities in Europe, we rely on regional raw materials such as green compost, bark humus, compost fibers, wood chips and bark mulch. In recent years, Greenworld has greatly reduced the use of peat in potting soil production. Many of our potting soil products no longer contain peat. To date, we have already successfully restored 10.4 million square meters of peatland.
Our production facilities in all plants are technologically state-of-the-art, which leads to a significant reduction in energy consumption.
In addition, the use of sustainable packaging materials is a matter of course for us in order to conserve additional resources.
Our plants set standards in sustainable energy: the Sembach plant in Rhineland-Palatinate benefits from state-of-the-art solar systems, while the fertilizer plant in Soltau uses environmentally friendly biogas.
Our goal is to maximize the utilization of our trucks and optimize transport routes within our plant network. Thanks to our efficient logistics network, we reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 300 tons per year by shortening transport routes. In addition, we actively promote the use of electric cars and bicycles in our company to further minimize our ecological footprint.
Our primary goal is to consistently reduce packaging material while at the same time ensuring optimum product protection and transport safety. We systematically minimize packaging weight, thickness and grammage and give preference to recyclates, especially from post-consumer sources. The focus is always on innovative solutions for reducing plastics. Our packaging supports a resource-conserving circular economy and actively contributes to environmental protection.
For us, sustainability is more than just a promise - it is what we do.
Through close collaboration with customers and partners, we develop practical, sustainable solutions. Our deep connection to nature and dedicated sustainability management drive us to continuously improve.
We rely on the creativity and expertise of our employees as well as external support to constantly optimize our processes and products and make them more environmentally friendly.
